Simon Barker, working in collaboration with artists Lizzie Hughes and Helen Marshall, as part of Art at the Centre, devised the strategy for public art in the Queenborough-Rushenden masterplan. Proposals have been made for both ephemeral and physical works. One element of the project is concerned with the very distinctive Medway horizon seen from Queenborough, and its relationship to the sea wall and development site beyond. Outline proposals have been prepared for structures which establish optical relationships between the site and the hidden horizon view and for the illumination of landmarks in ways which impart information to users of the river.
