An existing deep and dark space in the ground floor of a listed 1930s building in East London is stripped back to the original structure to give additional height, and opened up to the roof and rear elevation to increase light and air. The plan is organised around a concourse that links the sources of daylight and provides a space for interaction. This gives a sense of clarity - all rooms are visible and accessible from the concourse.
