An existing and much-altered early C20th workshop was completely transformed and extended to create a new family house. The interior was gutted and a new, highly-insulated timber frame interior inserted within the old shell. An extension was built to house a new living space, negotiating the level difference between the old structure and new gardens created in the old yard at a lower level. The elevations were altered in response to the requirements of the new spaces and new timber windows installed. New Western Red Cedar rainscreen cladding was added to unify the old and new construction; brick cladding at the lower level was used to relate to the brick of the walled gardens. |
